Harbin Engineering University
Harbin Engineering University (HEU) is a national key university subordinated to the Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense. HEU is among the first batch of "211 Project" universities that are entitled to enjoy first priority from the state in construction and development and also one of the universities that has a Graduate School. The predecessor of HEU is PLA Military Engineering Institute established in 1953 (abbr. HME) by General Geng Chen, which cultivated many famous generals and Academicians for China. HEU is the founder of ISCRAM-CHINA and ISCRAM-ASIA and has organized these events 6 times.
Chinese Aademy of Sciences
Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) is a leading academic institution and comprehensive research and development center in natural science, technological science and high-tech innovation in China. It was founded in Beijing on 1st November 1949 on the basis of the former Academia Sinica (Central Academy of Sciences) and Peiping Academy of Sciences. The CAS has 12 branch offices, 117 institutes with legal entity, more than 100 national key laboratories and national engineering research centers, and about 1,000 field stations throughout the country. Its staff even surpasses 50,000.
Institute of Disaster Prevention
Institute of Disaster Prevention (IDP) is located at the east gate of Beijing: Yanjiao Economic and Technological Development Zone. IDP is under the administration of China Earthquake Administration (CEA, former China Seismological Bureau). IDP consists of 9 departments including 23 majors, covering the fields of science, engineering, economy, management and arts. About 7,000 students are studying in IDP, where there are fresh air and beautiful surroundings. IDP organized many international and local conferences in the field of earthquake.
