The first International Academic Conference on Language, Literature, and Translation would be held by Harbin Engineering University in Harbin , which enjoys a long-standing fame as “Oriental Moscow”, at the end of June, 2008 [for two days]. The conference will witness the presence of some celebrated scholars both at home and abroad on some special issues, with a hope to promote exchanges between scholars in the studies of language, literature and translation respectively.

Conference Theme: The Originality of Language Studies in the 21 st Century

The conference will mainly embrace:

1. language studies on ： the latest development in language studies ； language and cognition, language and society, language and psychology, language and culture, language and language testing, applied linguistics; some interdisciplinary issues in language studies, etc;

2. literature studies on : the latest trends in foreign literature fields; eminent writers and mastermpieces; the literature shools, trend and movement; foreign literature teaching; the studies on the relationship between linguistics and literature, etc.

3. translation studies on: the latest development and trends for translology; literature masterpieces; applied translations; translation criticisms; translation and culture; translation teaching; the construction of translation as a discipline,etc.

Conference language: both Chinese and English.

The Conference Organization Committee will hold a pre-selection of the abstracts received. Then an official invitation letter would be delivered to those accepted before June 1 st , 2008 . All the papers accepted would be published in a synposium after the meeting. Please make sure your paper is written within 4000—5000 words. Please upload your paper in a complete version to the Conference Organization Committee while you get registered.

Fees and Tuitions: 180 dollars for foreign scholars;

500 RMB for domestic scholars; （ postgraduates:300RMB ）

The other fees [for travaling and hotel] are not included.
