The joint Conference on Information Systems for Crisis Management combines the programs offered by the 3 rd International China Workshop on Information Systems f or Crisis Response and Management (ISCRAM-CHINA) and the 4 th International Symposium on Geo-Information for Disaster Management (Gi4DM). The language of the conference is English.
Papers are invited that deal with any aspect of the design, development, deployment, operation, or evaluation of information systems for crisis management ( ISCRAM track ) and/or the collection, management, analysis, sharing and visualization of geo-information for disaster management ( Gi4DM track ) .
Authors should focus on the tools, functionality, and/or interfaces that are being or should be provided to human users involved with crisis response and management. Contributions are invited that cover crisis management in any phase, intersection of phases, and/or integration of phases of Planning, Training, Mitigation, Detection, Alerting, Response, Recovery, and Assessment.
JOINT CONFERENCE OF ISCRAM-CHINA and GI4DM
• ISCRAM :
The ISCRAM community is an internationally active and growing group of researchers, scholars, teachers, students, practitioners and policy makers actively involved in the topic of Information Systems for Crisis Response and Management. In addition to an annual ISCRAM conference alternating between Europe and the USA since 2004, the ISCRAM community also organizes annually a Summer School for PhD students and an International Workshop in China . The PhD summer school takes place in Tilburg University in the Netherlands in June, where about 20 PhD students from all over the world work on selected themes. The ISCRAM-CHINA Workshop aims to provide an outstanding opportunity for researchers, practitioners and policy makers in China to address and discuss new trends and challenges in the area of Information Systems for Crisis Response and Management.
• Gi4DM :
Anticipating the obvious and growing importance of geoinformation for disaster and risk management a separate group of researchers, professionals and vendors have begun a worldwide discussion on collection, management, analysis, sharing and visualization of geo-information. The Gi4DM is coordinated by the ISPRS Working Group on “Spatial data integration for emergency services”. Three editions of this series of symposia have taken place in Delft , The Netherlands, March 2005, in Goa , India , September 2006, and in Toronto , Canada , May 2007. The fundamental goal of the symposia was to begin a dialogue on the disaster management problems in their entirety by considering geospatial technologies applicable for emergency and disaster management, as well as particular user requirements for spatial data and standards.

PAPER SUBMISSION
Prospective authors must submit an abstract of their paper by February 15, 2008 , and indicate whether they submit to the ISCRAM track (for papers focusing on Information Systems) or to the Gi4DM track (for papers focusing on Geo-Information) . Upon acceptance, authors will be invited to submit their full paper by April 15, 2008 . All abstracts and papers will be evaluated and selected by the International Scientific Committee.

PROCEEDINGS
The Joint Conference will produce 2 “Joint ISCRAM China - Gi4DM Conference on Information Systems for Crisis Management” Proceedings: one published by SPIE (electronically only) and one printed volume published by Harbin Engineering University Press. The SPIE Proceedings are currently under negotiation (to be confirmed) and will be indexed by EI, and the printed proceedings will be indexed by ISTP.
